It has 5 double bedrooms (comfortably sleeping 10 and a fold out sofa for 2 extra guests), 2 bathrooms,  large kitchen, conservatory and 3 reception rooms all filled with unique architectural features and open fires. Old Castle Inn is ideal for those wanting substantial and characterful accommodation close to Alton Towers, and on the edge of the Peak District.

Alton Towers theme park is only 1 mile away (buses from  the village are available) . The village sits above the Churnet Valley, and is adjacent to Dimmingsdale with its network of beautiful walks and cycle paths, which includes the disused railway line. Alton Castle and the surrounding church buildings behind the  property,(spires can be seen from rear windows at the top of Old Castle Inn), constitute a heritage site and boast original Pugin designs.

The village has a number of fine pubs, several of which serve food. There is also a late-opening mini-mart and post office for basic supplies. 

Hikers, families,  pets and  cyclists all welcome. Smoking in garden only, please.  Baby-sitting and dog-sitting service available by negotiation with trustworthy local family. The house has a good sized safe enclosed garden with seating area and a large sandpit.
